Polarized
We see divided and confrontational Nicaraguans using the networks and media with ardor and impetus to discredit each other -even among members of the same side. No one proposes and everyone demolishes each other.
In all political sectors (including political members of the churches and the business sector that use influence, money and pulpit to politicking) it is obvious that prejudices and disqualifications prevail without knowing the whole truth, because of fears, conflicts, grudges, envy, ambitions for power and wealth, which must be overcome with integrity, honesty, empathy, forgiveness and true love of neighbor.
And paralyzed?
Do the government and the main leaders of the country's living forces act to achieve a consensus of the country?
- Does the government continue planted demanding admission of guilt for what happened in 2018, which includes a group for having gone to seek in the capital of the empire for help to destabilize the country, through the guilds, chambers, business foundations, NGOs and university students?
- Are the 5 of Big Capital, bankers and big business owners, paralyzed because they fear certain financial retaliation from the USA if they approach the Ortega government?
- Could it be that the church does not act now without the order of the Vatican who in turn is part of the European Union that also punishes the government and the country?
It seems that no one is doing anything and everyone is doing nothing to seek a rapprochement towards a consensus that will reestablish peace and stability and this amorphous attitude of the leaders frightens, paralyzes and polarizes even more the members of our society. Perhaps they are all incubating their emotions and thoughts and suddenly something emerges.
It seems that everything is already said and done, that there is nothing to talk about. There is nothing to resolve. It is no longer up to the Nicaraguans but to foreigners to decide our fate.
Could it be that big capital and the church have ceded and/or lost control of their decisions about Nicaragua to foreign governments?
The international community has the power to decide the fate of our country by imposing higher levels of economic sanctions to the point of drowning the population with higher levels of poverty, or they can facilitate a space for dialogue or negotiation among national leaders to find a way out without interference. Let us remember that almost nobody likes to be governed by a foreign government.
Could it be that the negotiation between government and opposition in Venezuela anticipates something similar to happen in our country?
We shall see! And may that opportunity, should it arise, be successfully used to overcome the political stagnation that is blocking economic growth.
We are all co-creators of the reality we have chosen, some by action and others by not acting in time and form. We are all co-responsible for what happens from now on and whoever takes the first step in assuming the initiative that will lead us towards consensus and coexistence will be the one who demonstrates true leadership among nationals that will win the applause and votes of the people.
Let us act with full awareness and intelligence. There is no time for indifference and destruction, let us make way to build a present capable of creating a dreamed future for our children.
Carpe diem
